The deadline for you to submit an abstract for IMBIZO7 is 29 February – mere days away! No further extensions are possible after that, so get your abstract in by Thursday!
The IMBeR IMBIZOs are really great conferences, so don’t miss out. Numbers are limited to 120 people. You must submit an abstract that is relevant to one of the following three workshops that form the basis of IMBIZO7 to be able to attend.
  • Science based adaptive management and policy responses to the causes and consequences of eutrophication.
  • A framework for development of social-ecological models of transformative change for sustainable ocean management.
  • Governance transformations for resilient fisheries and aquaculture: Progressions, challenges and opportunities.
Although you will only attend one workshop, plenary keynote presentations, a poster session and other interactive activities will enable you to learn about the work of participants in other two workshops.
IMBIZO7 will be hosted at the Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II (IAV) in Rabat, Morocco from 23-26 September 2024.
Bonus workshop organised by the Interdisciplinary Marine Early Career Network (IMECaN) on 22 September – all IMBIZO7 attendees are welcome to attend.

Reminder: Call for abstracts for IMBeR IMBIZO7

IMBeR’s seventh IMBIZO (the Zulu word for ‘a gathering’) will be held at the Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II (IAV) in Rabat, Morocco from 23-26 September 2024.

IMBIZO7 aims to showcase current and emerging research, and explore potential solutions towards sustainable ocean governance by 2030 – the target of multiple global sustainability initiatives.

To attend IMBIZO7, you must submit a relevant abstract to one of the three parallel workshops that form the basis of the IMBIZO. The number of IMBIZO7 participants is limited to about 120 people (around 40 per workshop).

The workshop topics are:

  1. Science based adaptive management and policy responses to the causes and consequences of eutrophication.
  2. A framework for development of social-ecological models of transformative change for sustainable ocean management.
  3. Governance transformations for resilient fisheries and aquaculture: Progressions, challenges and opportunities.

2024 Call for SCOR Working Group Proposals

The SCOR Secretariat invites proposals for new working groups to commence activities in late 2024.
Deadline for submission: 17 May 2024.
Instructions, guidelines, and a template to help prepare the proposals can be found here.
The selection of the new SCOR working groups will take place at the 2024 SCOR Annual Meeting scheduled to take place in Qingdao, China on 16-18 October 2024.
