IIOE-2 Capacity Building

Capacity Building in IIOE-2 will be a combination of efforts by all involved national and international organizations. SCOR's contributions will be as follows:

• Travel support for developing country scientists to attend international symposium in Goa, where they will receive mentoring from respected international scientists. Early-career scientists from Bangladesh, Madagascar, Mauritius, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will be supported by SCOR to participate in the symposium.
• SCOR has funded two SCOR Visiting Scholars to teach and mentor in the Indian Ocean region in 2015. One Visiting Scholar will travel from the National Institute of Oceanography in Goa, India to teach oceanography at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The other Visiting Scholar, from Japan, will provide training on the Continuous Plankton Recorder in Goa, India.
• SCOR is publicizing research needs in the Indian Ocean region and opportunities for Fulbright Specialists and Scholars in the region.
